SL (1972-1989) (107)
Our convertible tops for the Mercedes Benz SL 1972-1989 are available in three different materials. Factory original material was Sonnenland Classic. The original colors were black, brown, tan and blue (all with the tan backing). Tan backing means that we you sit in the car and look up you see tan, this is because this car has no original headliner for the soft top so you are seeing the back side of the canvas. If you have any questions about this item please contact us, we are very knowledgable about this car. We also sell the seat covers, carpet kits, boot lids, door panel skins, door panel boards, and jump seats for this car. We offer this top in the following materials:
Stayfast: Cloth made in America by Haartz. This is a three-ply composite material made of an acrylic square weave outer fabric, a rubber inner layer, and a cotton lining. This material is original on such vehicles as the Chevrolet Camaro, Mazda Miata, Dodge Viper and the Bentley Azure.
Twillfast II: Cloth made in America by Haartz. Look and feel is similar to German Sonnenland. This is an acoustically enhanced three-ply composite made of an acrylic twill weave outer fabric, an elastomeric inner layer and a polyester/cotton lining fabric. This material is original on such vehicles as the Dodge Viper, BMW Z3 and Z8 Roadsters, VW Golf and the Chevrolet Corvette.
Sonnenland A5.3: Premium cloth made in Germany by Haartz. Quality exceeds that of Sonnenland Classic. An acoustically enhanced three-ply composite made of an acrylic twill weave outer fabric, a rubber inner layer and a polyester lining fabric. This material is original on such vehicles as the Audi A4 and TT, Chrysler Crossfire, Mercedes CLK and VW Beetle.
